MacBook - Putting 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM in Macbooks was smart!

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
I haven’t seen many DDR3 laptops out now, let alone 1066Mhz laptops. I checked Sony, Toshiba, HP, Lenovo and Dell and none of their laptops that are on Macbooks competing level are DDR3-capable. It goes to show how ahead of the game Macbooks are.

iMac - G5 PPC won’t power on

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
for weeks my computer would get the dreaded blue screen upon startup, I would unplug/plugin and it would work beautifully.

a few weeks later, it wouldn’t wake from sleep mode, and I’d have to unplug/plugin, before it worked again beautifully.

recently, it did not powerup at all- no blue screen- no white light- nothing. I opened her up and hit the reset power system button and it worked.

I then did not shut her off at all for about a week or two (I did, however, restart a few times in that time) and I woke up this morning and she was powered off.. and she won’t come back, not even after another reset of the power system.

of the four LED lights, #1 is lit and is green- the others lie dormant, like the machine.

I assume it was a surge that powered her down- my humble town’s electricity does provide those from time to time.. so, is this a power supply issue? have I treated her too horribly and she needs a rest? haha.. I hope it isn’t a logic board issue as it seems to be with some of these other blue screen problems..

I have a 2ghz G5 iMac with 1gb of RAM running the latest update of Leopard.. any help would be much appreciated.

be well!

OS 10.5 - Sleep mode??

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
How do I know if my MB is on sleep? Today I thought I put it on sleep, I pressed the power button and hit sleep, and than closed the lid, however 2hrs later when I went to get my laptop bag, my MB was HOT! It was running. I was so worried because the temp. hit 70 degrees Celsius and the fan was only 2000 rpm?!?!

Also when I close my lid, I “thought” it went on sleep, but sometimes it doesn’t? Can anyone clarify this for me please.

I tried to put it on sleep, and THAN closing the lid, but it turns back on? I have no idea if its on sleep because the fan is so quiet. I also see the light on the front right of the MB, but I’m not 100% sure it turns on when its on sleep mode. Thanks.
