Time Machine Back Up Extremely Slow Please Help!

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
So I have been having problems with my MBP the past couple of days. It takes about 3min to open an app and I can’t play any songs in iTunes because the song keeps stopping and loading. So basically my computer is unusable. I decided to buy a LaCie 1TB external HD in the hope to save all of the precious files on my computer and I just got it in the mail this morning. I hooked it up and started running Time Machine for a full back up. Just as I expected it is extremely slow so slow that after 2 hours it has only copied 401.1MB out of 228.87GB. Just to be clear I have a 250GB hard drive and 2GB of Ram in my MBP with a little over 3GB of space left. What can I do to speed up the process. My plan was to back up my entire HD and then try and save my laptop by restoring it.
I would appreciate any help you guys could give me.
Thanks.

WTB: New (Late 2008) MacBook Air 1.86Ghz

Thursday Nov 20, 2008
Say ya bought a new MAcBook Air Gen2 and perhaps it doesn’t quite fit your needs? Perhaps you decided you need a MB or MBP instead for expandability? I’m looking to snag a 1.86Ghz New MacBook Air Gen2 for my wife as a Christmas gift. I don’t really care which internal drive it has since it will most likely get replaced then SSD prices come down a bit. Shoot me a PM with a shipped price to U.S.A. zip code 61704 if you think you have something. Eventually the refurbs will hit the AppleStore and of course, next week is Black Friday. Hopefully we will see some discounts there too. I’m most likely to be looking for pricing along those lines. No need to post here and start a big old thread arguing prices, condition, what model is best, where to buy, etc… Just PM me if you have something.
Thanks all!
-Dave
